Activada Farms: Empowering Communities

Activada Farms is a proud subsidiary of Activada Investment Ltd. The farm was established to contribute to food production, create opportunities in agribusiness, and support community nutrition and livelihoods.

The farm is led by Mrs. Bilkisu Salisu Zakar, one of the Directors of Activada Investment Ltd. As a woman entrepreneur, she began poultry farming from her backyard, where she practiced small-scale farming for about two years. Her passion and determination gave her the courage to expand, and in 2023 she moved the farm to its permanent site for large-scale operations.

Today, Activada Farms focuses mainly on poultry farming, producing eggs, broiler chickens, and free-range poultry. The farm supplies fresh and healthy poultry products to the immediate community and also reaches markets beyond.

The journey has not been without challenges. In the early days, Mrs. Bilkisu Salisu Zakar faced issues such as high mortality rates among the birds. With time, experience, and better practices, she was able to overcome these setbacks. However, the farm still struggles with one major challenge, limited funding which affects its ability to expand further and meet the growing demand.

Despite these challenges, Activada Farms continues to stand as a story of resilience, women’s empowerment, and entrepreneurship. With the right support and partnerships, the farm is set to grow bigger, create more jobs, and contribute more to food security in Nigeria and beyond.
